To anyone wanting to paint on the small models Theresa and I made, I left them in the drawing ro
om where we normally have class. If you want to work out a system like Molly and Blake where you take turns, photograph the work and move on, that could be a great way of working since there are only two models there right now. Also, gesso the back of the boards as well as the front to prevent warping.

the portland ad federation is now accepting applications for their national-level internship program. see details below.

  • Ten students will be chosen after an extensive application process
  • Each student will spend two weeks in three different agencies; internship is six weeks in duration
  • Two teams of five will compete to develop a campaign pitch for Tillamook Cheese
  • Students with interests in writing, design, interactive, multimedia, production, strategy and account planning, public relations, and account management are encouraged to apply

What I Have Learned

I have learned to take an idea for a story that involves objects and a narrative, and turn it into a set of icons that visually communicates the idea.

Granted, I have many areas to work on before it communicates the idea well.

I have learned that while applying objects to a grid may make them cohesive, it may not make them visually interesting or have character. I came to a point where my icon set was pretty static and dull.





From this point I decided I wanted to give the objects a unifying mark that could be repeated throughout each to carry some cohesion and also to warp the form to give personality.


In critique I was told that the alarm clock looks like a timer. With that being said, I am going to drop the alarm clock because grapefruit and coffee signal morning enough on their own. I also realized that my phone is facing a different direction than any of the other icons, which brings down the cohesion.
